vincente wolf in manhatten

just a few images from my stash. this space was designed by vincente wolf for a single dad
and his two sons. i love the clean lines and masculine feel of the space.
i don't think i have ever liked bean bag chairs so much!
i really like this interesting treatment of the drapery in back of the mirror....and the way it is installed
around the beam on the ceiling.
this entire room is so tranquil and pretty.
is it bad to covet a toilet? cuz i REALLY want this one.

house update: master bath selections

just a quick update to show you the tile selections for my clients new house. we are doing the wall area
behind the master bathroom vanities in this pretty glass/marble mosaic:

i am really excited about how the floors turned out! we bought 12" tiles and had them ripped in half
to create this brick pattern. it's subtle and sophisticated, and we saved quite a bundle by buying standard 12" tiles.
a look at the granite with the accent tile: the walls will be a super soft grey/green color.
i am looking forward to sharing pictures with you when it is all finished!

ottoman pairs

a pair of anything in a room can add balance and interest. i really love the way a pair of ottomans looks in a room. they are very versatile and can be used in place of a single ottoman or a coffee table, and can be moved around the room as extra seating. take a look at some of my favorites:
decorpad windsor smith
here, a pair of ottomans take the place of side tables.
decorpad mansion 21
these zebra ottomans look so pretty tucked under this table, and can be ready at any moment for an impromptu seat.
 caitlin creer
i love the way caitlin used these round ottomans in the same way...the nailhead trim really adds some texture and interest.

 candace olsen

these simple square ottomans can be moved around as needed for seating.

fresh flowers

i was at the grocery store yesterday, and saw something i just couldn't pass up:
a dozen roses for $3.50 AND an additional bouquet for $2.99. how could i possibly resist?

grocery market bouquets usually come with an assortment of flowers that are rather bold and bright.
whenever i buy these bouquets, i separate the flowers into two categories: the flowers i want to keep, and...um...the ugly flowers that don't "go" with the main bouquet i want to create. i take the "orphan" flowers and create a small arrangement.

i mixed the roses + the yellow flowers and filler from the secondary bouquet + some daisies that i had growing in my backyard to create this arrangement.

the result is a happy, cheerful flower arrangement that is doing the perfect job of adding a dose of "summer" to my office. and all for under $7. man, gotta love those grocery store bouquets!

spotted: quadrille in southern living

this month as i perused the july issue of southern living, i kept seeing quadrille fabrics...
quadrille is a designer fabric company that  carries a fabulous range of printed fabrics, but one thing that keeps a lot of people away: high prices and a 5 yard minimum. good for us that several fabric companies, including waverly have made some fabrics that bear a striking resemblance to some quadrille fabrics.
first up: southern living decorating editor lindsey ellis beatty transformed her kitchen and breakfast and infused them with a "happy spot of color and pattern" using this fabric:

zig zag: brown on tint

i am in LOVE with this space! it has the perfect balance of traditional + modern.
i really love the way the saarinen table is paired with the traditional chairs upholstered in the
simple and graphic quadrille fabric.
isn't that salmon colored loveseat? *sigh.

next up, eddie ross transformed a pair of flea market columns into some pretty outdoor lamps, using the same fabric in another colorway:
leaf on tint:

isn't this space fresh and pretty? i like that the bright colors and whimsical patterns are grounded by the dark, textural furniture.
you can get eddie's instructions on the column to lamp transformation here.

and finally, designer meg braff used two more quadrille fabrics in the design of her
north georgia lake house:
ziggarut: orange on tint
(i am almost certain that this is the fabric used here---but i love how she used it at an angle! it adds a fun twist to this already interesting and pretty fabric.)

and, another colorful fabric in the family room:
cap ferrat:

you can drool over more quadrille fabrics here.

a visit to tracery in rosemary beach

i am a BIG fan of everything that tracery interiors does, and knew when we planned our trip to florida i knew that i was going to sneak in a visit to tracery's store in rosemary beach. rosemary beach is a master planned beach community located along the panhandle of florida, between destin and panama city beach.
the store is nestled along the pretty shops and eateries on the south side of rosemary beach's retail area, just a stones throw away from the ocean.

the store is just beautiful inside and is full of unique and interesting items. some of the walls are a soft neutral and others are a gorgeous charcoal color.  i have to admit, that i had some pretty high expectations about what the store would be like, and it exceeded them all.
i fell in love with this chair--in particular, the white welting with the yellow fabric. i love it paired with the abstract shell motif pillow and aluminum table.
some dwell studios pillows mix with baskets and metal accent pieces.
isn't this light great?
the store has this amazing variety of classic pieces mixed with more bold and graphic items.

i found myself *sighing a LOT, and wanting to hang out all day. it was like disney world for design addicts.

love these lamps...
some custom headboards....

i loved that the furniture and accessories have a beachy vibe without being "in your face" beachy.
the selections are creative, unique and beautifully staged.

if you are in the area, be sure and stop in tracery in rosemary beach! it is one of the prettiest stores i have ever been inside.
**many, MANY thanks to anna kay porch, one of the extremely talented designers at tracery for allowing me to ask her a zillion questions, and for letting me take her picture. thank you anna!
