lego party

the invitations... 

i got a cricut for christmas, and this was the

 first project i made using it.

i couldn't believe how fun and easy it was to use!

the back of the invitation has all of the 

nitty-gritty details of the party.

i wanted to keep the front simple.

the party favor was a little tin, 

filled with black, grey and 

yellow legos,(bought on e-bay) 

and some gum.

with a little personalized tag 

tied on with some grey 

and white grosgrain ribbon.

i tried to take some pictures of a few 

details before the party, because i knew the

lighting at the party place was going to be bad.

the fruit and veggie plates...

and some bowls filled with m + m's.

i bought the plates at walmart, and the 

bamboo forks were ordered online.

they came plain, but i stamped the "eat" on them. 

i used the cricut to cut the 

"6" out of grey vinyl

and attached it to the smaller plate.

i love the way these turned out.

i used a martha stewart stamp kit to personalize them.

yes, the lighting was really bad for taking pictures,

but the party was a blast!

the cricut made everything so easy! 

i should have bought one

a long time ago!

the cake and cookies were ordered from a local bakery.

i gave them a sample of the yellow paper i used on the 

invitations and they matched it.

the little cones were made from a houndstooth 

wrapping paper 

that i bought at hobby lobby. 

i used spray-mount to adhere two sheets

together, and then cut them out 

using a template downloaded off the internet.

candy dipped pretzels.

the cake is just a plain, half-sheet cake from a bakery.

(they matched a color sample i gave them)

i cut a 2" diameter dowel into 4" chunks,

painted them the same yellow, and stuck them into the cake.

the little metal rings holding the banners together are

from a dollar store snowflake garland that i took apart.

i bought a few yards of the 

yellow dotted fabric, 

ripped i in half, 

tucked the ends under, 

and used it as runners on both tables.

i bought the square vases at michaels for $1.25. 

they were originally gold,

but i spray painted them black.

i put a piece of foam in each one of them, 

stuck in the sign i made,

and covered the top with yellow shredded paper.

the final touch--

a juice box disguised as a lego.
