***
sorry for my absence yesterday! it was my daughters birthday, and
we had a lot going on...not to mention the fact that my computer has been NOT wanting to connect to the internet. oh, and for those of you who are on pins and needles waiting to find out if i handed out the wrapped candy bars...the answer is a big fat NO.
wanna know one of the reaons why?
meet mount st. clemons:
very glamourous, eh?
yeah.
that's what happens at my house when you
boycott laundry for a week.
i'm actaully really glad i decided not to go through with the whole candy bar thing.
it rained on halloween, and we only had about 15
trick or treaters come to our house.

(and now...onto the mushy stuff...)
i just wanted to say how much it means to me that y'all choose to tune in to my blog day after day and week after week.  i so appreciate each and every comment, and i love to hear that you are being inspired! i really believe that blogging is a wonderful way to share ideas and creativity, and have been amazed at the open and friendly community in the blogosphere. thanks to all my readers for encouraging me and lifting my spirits. i started this blog as a way to organize (*dump!) all of my design projects, remodels, magazine clippings, and party ideas, as well as all of the beautiful images i see online. but i have gained so much in the last year. i have learned so much, and have made so many friends and been so inspired.
the last three years have been really difficult. my husband lost his business, and in the process, we lost everything that we had spent the previous ten years working for. we thought we were safe. we owned 40% of our assets. we had savings, we were conservative with our money...but we took some risks that eventually devastated us financially. when we moved across the country to take a job, leaving behind our newly remodeled house, and into a rental house, i was in shock.
i really thought we had prepared ourselves to weather any storm.
but you can't really plan for an economic crisis.
or the bank calling your note.
(even though in 9 years, we had never missed or even been late on a payment.) and for those of you who don't know what "calling a note" means, look it up, and then pray it never happens to you.
so, not only was i in shock, but my whole world
was literally turned upside-down.
i missed tennessee. i missed my friends and family.
i missed working with my husband and having him around so much.
i missed my HOUSE.
i know we'll buy a house again.
soon...ish.
but because the housing market continues to depreciate, we are still waiting. it's been hard.
really hard!
there are days when i think i am literally going to go crazy not being able to make my house "my own". i know some of you are thinking..."oh, just paint the rental house, just replace the light fixtures, and do everything you can to make it look as good as possible." well, i tend to be an "all or nothing type" girl. if i can't have my surroudings looks EXACTLY the way i want them to look, then i don't even try. plus, if we changed or improved anything, it would come out of our pocket. and right now i have no desire to spend any money on a house that doesn't belong to me. besides, we don't have a whole lot of room in our budget to do anything anyway.
it's a lose-lose scenario, in my mind.
but i know every day we are getting closer to having a place of our own again. i can't wait to decorate it. man, have i got some BIG plans! i have a feeling that my plans and our budget will probably not get along very well. but i am excited nonetheless. i promise to take you along every step of the way.
thanks for reading my blog.
and even a big thank you to all who stalk it.
(feel free to follow along if you like! i promise not to bite.)
thanks for your works of advice and encouragement.
thanks for...just being there.
*smiles and hugs and happiness,
autumn

  1. I have been a huge fan of your blog since I discovered your coffered ceilings from your House #5. I need a makeover on our Master Bedroom in the worst way, we haven't done anything since we moved in 6 years ago, focusing instead on kitchens, insulation, termites, and other projects. Keep up the good work!

  2. congrats on a year of blogging, and good luck with your house situation, sounds like you have had a tough time. As far as my tiny house, the master bedroom needs the most work since we tend to put everything before ourselves!

  3. I love your blog. It's always one of my first reads in the morning. I need the most help in my family room! Great giveaway!!

  4. This is actually one of the first design blogs I started following it has helped to start quite the obsession. I'm a young renter with not a lot of space and I could use some help with my living room. But it probably wouldn't be that fun for you, so you will want to choose someone else! Happy one year.

  5. Love your blog and I would LOVE help with my boring foyer!! :)

  7. I am a newb design blog stalker, and yours is one of my favorites. I have an ugly guestroom that could use a lot of love! Love the CSN.COM website!

  8. I love your blog too! You have fabulous taste and almost everything that I see here, I love. You are so talented. Good luck with everything.

I'm really really wanting to copy our house #5 kitchen. I do need help with my living room though and would love a great design board to help me. gingercrook@gmail.com

  9. Love your blog, I can't believe it is only a year old! You did such an amazing job on your previous homes I can only imagine the challenge it is to wait to be in a home of your own again...I hope soon comes sooner than expected! Janell

  10. we just bought our first house this last month, and it is 1930 craftsman bungalow that we got a great deal on (housing in our area is still pretty pricy but we made out like bandits on this house) anyway, the bathroom is very small (and we have 2 daughters - 3 years and the other is 3 months old, so i'm foreseeing the future bathroom battles already haha) and it still has the turquoise tub and sink that were probably here when it was built. They are in great condition and we're on a tight budget so rather than replace them, I'd like to "make it work" and come up with a real art deco look that makes the turquoise make sense in there. I'D LOVE YOUR HELP! :) I love this blog, Autumn, it's always an inspiration. :)

  11. Autumn I have coveted your talents from the moment I met you. I am so grateful that you are so willing to always share your brilliant ideas with me. You are always making things and this world a more beautiful place just by being in it, I think you are amazing! Happy One Year!:)

  12. Thank you for your blog! I love seeing the work you've done. And I hope you can buy another house soon...so I can have the fun of watching you transform it. :)

I am just buying my first house with my husband and three kids. It's a foreclosure, and literally every room needs help. But if I had to pick one, I'd say the living room. The house has AWESOME bones--built in 1854, it's a Greek Revival in New England, the living room has a fireplace and horsehair plaster with moldings. But I need help with color and furniture choices--so pick me!! Help me!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I desperately need your help with my bedroom! Please pick me!

  14. I seriously love your style! And even if I don't win I think I still want to hire you to help me finish my main living area {especially since I think you're a local Wasatch Front gal now?}. I just need help pulling it all together-you know, fabrics, accessorizing, and stuff! Happy blogiversary!!!

  15. Love your blog....love your design style....I've followed you long before I ever knew....on Rate my space I tag your entryway floors as a FAVORITE...a year later I realize that it was your house I tagged....Does that make me a stalker. I would feel blessed to win a design board from you...which room would I pick...well it could be a spare bedroom, a office/library, a den, a workroom, an home office. My home presents many challenges. The biggest being I inherited aanother woman's design style or lack there of, but it's also been a home to my partner and his kids for the last 18 years! So for the last six years I've been trying to infuse my style into this home, while at the same time trying to not offend the occupants, who by the way have been resistant to change! I feel I've made tons of changes but have yet to complete any room 100% HELP!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Can't wait to see what the future brings for you. You have such a talent and so no doubt when the day comes you will created some more beautiful spaces. Congrats on the one year and so glad you're my blogging buddy.

  17. Happy Blogiversary!!

Our living room has been empty since we moved into our house over 2 years ago and has become a dumping ground for kids toys. The only thing that's been done is paint. I need the help!

    Great giveaway! *fingers crossed*

    ReplyDelete
  18. Congrats on your blogversary. I love your moodboards and your blog !

  19. Happy Blogiversary! You're great and very inspiring to me! I can't wait to actually implement that apartment idea board (someday, somewhere, somehow!)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Autumn, I love your style and once we get back to our own house, I will be referencing all of your previous house projects for guidance. We are renting as well, but I would love your help in pulling together my living room.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I just started reading your blog, and I find it to be a nice place to 'go'. Great job on one year!

As for what area of my home needs help, I'd say either my bedroom or living room. I think I have a great start to them both, but they don't feel 'finished' to me.

My hubby and I rent, too, and I have the same thought as you about all or nothing or nothing at all. It drives me bonkers not being able to change big things in our home, but I know in due time, it will be possible to do so. Patience is quite a virtue!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I totally relate about the rental thing. I'm in the same boat. For someone who loves to decorate, this can be a most discouraging thing. I don't want to paint or do anything b/c it's not mine nor do I have the money to waste. I'm so impressed with your blog and how you still have amazing posts even though you can do what you want. And with so many followers, your talent is evident!
If I won, my request would be to help me with my future house, any room!
Happy Birthday to your blog! Keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I recently came across your blog and it has been truly inspiring. I too, am an "all or nothing" girl living in a home I don't love, with no budget to renovate to my liking. I'm slowly making changes here and there just to keep my sanity and stop dreaming of the day we can move into a house we love. I'm so glad to have come across your blog, I love how you pull out inspirational images from magazines from years ago, its so refreshing to see different looks than all the other ones out there at the moment! I look forward to all your future posts!

As for which room I need help with, I think it would be the living room, which is actually also the kitchen and dining room. That triple-punch and its vaulted ceilings are making it difficult for me to pull it all together.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I removed my post because in my rush to enter your contest I had not completed reading your entire post (the mushy stuff), and I wanted to give you a big HUG first to let you know that I will pray that you get that home of yours soon; and I'm so sorry for how the economy has affected you and your family. It has affected me, as well, Autumn. I lost my job about a year and a half ago. The only good thing was that when I lost my job, my children were also finishing their college -- so those expenses were no longer there. That helped us. So being empty nesters is cheaper, but it's also more lonely (not a very good trade-off).

    Here are those hugs....((((((((hugs)))))))))

Now I can address the rest of your post :)

What a WONDERFUL giveaway. I would love to win, as I know all the others would as well. I would be grateful for help with my family room.

I think that after living with a room for a period of time, you can lose the ability to look at it objectively. I consider myself good as putting a room together, but in the case of my family room, you must trust me when I say that objectivity is lost (haha). You can see pictures here: http://www.bobbypinsboardwalk.com/2010/07/tour-my-family-room.html

I have opened the room up a lot and removed all the unnecessary lighting so I've made some updates, but I know it can look better! I think it needs the Autumn Touch!

    Happy Anniversary, Autumn!

  25. my fab fam lives in a rental right now too....we are lucky b/c our landlord allowed us to paint...as long as they aren't bright bold colors he said....who determines if they are bright and bold though? ;)
my hubby and i decided that this christmas we are going to give our children functional, meaningful gifts rather than more toys that will just get shoved into the closet...giving toys to less fortunate children will feel great and be a good lesson for our children about serving others. :) oh, sorry, i got off the subject....my son's room desperately needs brought into the teenage room from childish...he is 11 going on 25 and i am hoping to give him something he will love...and with your help, that would be accomplished i am sure!
    happy blog-versary, birthday :)

  26. I feel like you...so many ideas, so little funds. (Although I'm not as talented as you, so probably less frustrated!) It would be so fun to work with someone experienced in design. What room to do I need help with? So hard to choose. But I would probably choose my living room.

    ReplyDelete
  27. every room in my house needs design! But mostly my dining room/ living room needs work. All our furniture is beige!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Even though I'm a long time lurker, I just wanted to comment and tell you to hang in there! My husband and I are also going through a rough financial patch (he lost his job almost 2 years ago, and the legal market is still in the toliet). Anyway, I'm an all or nothing girl too, so I completely understand why you're not wasting the effort to re-do everything. You'll get your own home soon enough, and I know we'll all be drooling over the "afters"!

    ReplyDelete
  29. We're still plugging away on our total re-hab of a 1926 bungalow. It's intimidating to try to stay true to the house while keeping it realistic for two wild boys. I could probably use the most help with our living room area, since it's the space I've given absolutely no thought to (no cabinetry or tile or counters to begin working around...). Congratulations on your one-year anniversary!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Congrats on the one year! I would love some help putting together our new dining room...right now it's a big ol' empty room...that needs to be filled up by Christmas.

  36. Happy Anniversary! That is very exciting indeed. I think a couple of rooms in my house could use a new look but I struggle most with my kitchen. It's the one room in the house that I use the most but and also hate the most. I'm not sure if you even typically do kitchens but your other work is so good, I'm sure you could come up with something!

  37. Happy Anniversary! I love this blog, and I have found so many great ideas here!

I would love some design help with my guest room and guest bathroom!

  38. I would love for some help with my house. We are about to move into an old ranch and it needs serious TLC. If I had to pick a room, I would say the kitchen!

  39. AGH, my room is the master bedroom....it's always the master it seems...I have no idea what to do with the darn thing...I see all these cute things at other peoples houses and can create rooms I'm in love with for myself and others but WHY WHY can't I do my own master bedroom? Hope I win!!! Ether way...CSN stores rock and so do your design boards! YAY for giveaways

    ReplyDelete
  40. Happy 1 year! yay! Keep it up!

We need some serious design help in our master bedroom. It has huge valuted ceilings, hand-me-down furniture and boring white walls. Ahh! Not the cozy space we have been envisioning!

  41. I love your blog! You do such good work. :) Happy anniversary!

  42. Love your Blog. You have such great ideas. I need help with my living room. Its where everyone loves to hangout but seems It has a big "i've been decorated by a man" feel, instead of my tastes.

  45. Happy one year anniversary! Thanks for all the wonderful design ideas and inspiration. I live in a teeny tiny house with my husband and two daughters. We share our bedroom with my youngest daughter, and have never really done anything with it. That's the room that needs the most help! It's the worst! I look forward to following along on your design adventures :)

  46. I don't remember how I stumbled onto your blog but I certainly fell in love with your creativity and style.

I'm in the process w/my living room and kitchen but my bedroom is my biggest obstacle. Nothing has been done to it since we first moved in last Nov. It's a hideous dark green color w/ tray ceilings and an attach office.

    HAPPY ONE YEAR! <--your 1st milestone. :)

  50. Apparently I, along with about 50 other people thus far, want to wish you a happy blog birthday! I am new to the blogging thing and started doing it to get ideas on ways to decorate my very first apartment. I'm in the same boat at you when it comes to not being able to do everything that I want to do, because we're not going to live here longer than a year, so it's just not worth painting and such. But I am literally dreaming of the day that we have a house & I am able to do the flooring how I want, paint THICK slate grey stripes on the walls and just be free to add or take as I wish. OH THE DAY WILL COME.. eventually. Anyways, I wanted to just give you more encouragement while you're going through this time & let you know that we all do appreciate your hard work on your blog!

  53. Happy Blog Anniversary!
I have to say, I totally understand what you are going through, my husband lost his job last year(of 20 yrs) ..It truly is such a hard thing to go through...
I am always inspired by your blog posts and LOVE your design boards! If I win I would pick my family room, I have tried and tried to put it together, and I never seem to get it there!
I am anxious to see the finished tween room as I have the same mirrored vanity and knobs on mine!..
Thanks so much for an awesome give-a-way!

  54. I had no idea that you were going through so much. Your blog is always so upbeat and inspiring. I really admire your attitude and wish you all the best. I love visiting your blog and getting ideas for my own home. Congratulations on your blog's anniversary.

Wishing your family all the best-and a very happy belated birthday to your daughter.

Oh, and btw, I'd LOVE to win that design consult!

  59. Happy Blog Birthday! I love reading your posts and I shared pictures of a kitchen you did with painted black cabinets with a friend and she copied the look in her kitchen -- it's gorgeous! If I won your giveaway, I would pick the master bedroom. We have a nice set of furniture but the room needs style. I want it to feel grown up, relaxing, and romantic but instead it feels like the laundry piles threw up in it! It becomes the dumping ground for anything and everything that needs to be put away or doesn't have a real "home". Every night when I go to bed I look around and think "oh tomorrow I really need to work on this room" but it's a to-do item that gets buried at the very bottom of a long list. My husband and I love your style and would love your help!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah for a year...I have really enjoyed your blog since I found it recently. I can't even remember how I first stopped by but I keep coming back! We are in the midst of a big renovation and there are so many things I need help with. We are adding a master bedroom and if I win I would want to work with you on our master bedroom. I would like to update our traditional decor and include green trellis and Ikat (is that too much together?), a fabric covered headboard and neutral decor and furnishings. That's not too much to ask, right?

  61. Happy, HAPPY blogaversary!!! It is quite an accomplishment to keep a blog going for 365 days when life is happening all around you (I'm on somewhat of a hiatus because I couldn't hack it myself). I absolutely love your blog and your ideas and creativity that you pour into this thing are fantastic!

I plan to comment more often instead of just lurking (I already follow on my Google reader). Thank you for taking the time to put creative ideas out there to help the rest of us jumpstart ours. :)

  62. Congras on a year!!!

If I wer to pick one room it would be my front room. Mainly because that is the place that guests see.

    Heres to another year!!

  63. Hi I'm one of the semi-stalkers, because I have you on my blogroll so I'm not a full blown stalker :). I've really enjoyed reading your posts and seeing you and your husband's fabulous work. In regards to the mushy stuff, this too shall pass. I'm a single mom and I moved across the country with my two kids to keep my job when the economy started tanking 3 yrs ago. Then the real estate market really tanked I now have two homes steadily losing value and while sometimes it does get it to me, I know the most important thing is my babies, because while you can buy a new house and things, family is priceless.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh please enter me in the contest, I would love to win both prizes.

    ReplyDelete
  65. OMG! One year-amazing. I've been thinking about doing to blog for one year while you've been "doing it". I'd love to win and our master bedroom needs lots of help. It's on two levels, up four steps, with a 15 ft. peak. No intimacy at all. Cindy at drj1s@sti.net.

  66. I love your blog. I would like help in my bathroom.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I really enjoy your blog, thank you for sharing! Where do I start...I have too many problem areas to list, but I would start with our living area. It i so important to me to make it cozy, comfortable and DONE! There is a weird skinny 'sun room' area at the back of the room - what to do with that space??? Very awkward and could use the help.

    ReplyDelete
  68. It's been a real pleasure reading your blog and seeing you create such classic and timeless spaces. It all started with my search for black kitchen cabinets on rate my space, when I discovered octoberroad.
I know it had to be hard to walk away from Treyburn Dr. But, atleast you lived in such a fine home that you got to design and renovate. I may "own" my own home, but it will be years and years before my house or any future home will be as lovely as that one. Just keep thinking positive and it will eventually happen. :0)
Happy 1 year and I look forward to many more posts!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Congrats on one year! My living room and or family room need help...pretty please!

  71. I am one of your new followers (a mentioned in my first post) and I adore your personal tast as seen in Hous #5. yYou inspire me to one day start a 'budget' interior design company! Currently serving as the sugar mama as my husband is geting his PhD - and things are tight! Would love some ideas on how to tie in our kitchen/living room as they are essentially one big room, with traditional hand me down furniture :)

  72. thanks so much for all of your somments so far.
i am really blown away. for real.
i had my iphone with me today as i was out running around, and so i was periodically reading all the comments...and i kept tearing up! i seriously had to wipe my eyes a few times becuase i was so overwhelmed at the respnse this post got.
and while it stinks to hear that other families have been affected by the economy, it's nice to know i'm not alone.

it was also great to hear how many other RENTERS there are out there! maybe we should fomr some sort of support group for all us that are sick of renting!
    :)

anyway, thanks again for the sweetness. it really made my day.
AND, i finished tacking that huge pile of laundry today!! SOCKS and all!
    today was a GREAT day.
    :)
    thanks again!

  73. seriously...thank you! i check your blog every day...your style is impeccable. and yes, your year sounds like it was rough. a very wise man once said, "no success can compensate for failure in the home". your family is intact. you are a success! believe it. it's true. oh, and my family room could use some autumn love. unless you want to tackle my husband's man room. it has dead animals on the wall. we call it the dead animal room. i keep the door closed.

  77. Oh, I'm so excited about this contest! I plan to redecorate my great room in 2011. I have identified our needs, in terms of how we use that space, and looked at tons of magazines and catalogs, but I'm stumped! The house was completed in 2008. You can see pics on my house-building blog, which I have not updated since 2008: http://jblovescupcakes.blogspot.com/

And specifically, you can see a picture of my great room here: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_dzaReR8UuXw/SBUVICJmEbI/AAAAAAAABKw/XeiaTuvpHTI/s1600-h/CIMG3330.JPG

  81. Happy Anniv, Autumn! You are extremely talented. There is a blog that you might want to look at by a Christian mom who has 7 kids and had to make a home out of a small business building for rent. You will be blown away at what she did on NO money and I know you'd like her style. Her blog is http://resolved2worship.xanga.com Click under decorating on a budget on the left. She is also an amazing photographer. I hope you check it! Thanks for all you do! Stephanie

  82. What an amazing giveaway, Autumn! I would definately have you create a design board for our nursery. As baby #2 approaches, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the short time frame you get to work on a space before the time actually comes. And if this one is like my daughter, she came 2 months early and we were painting the nursery while she was in the NICU! What a blessing for you to do this for one of your readers!!

  83. So fun! I would have a hard time deciding between my living room/dining room area and my bedroom. Thanks for sharing your talents!

  87. we need help with our bedroom.

It's a rental, so we can't paint. We have boxes piled in corners that haven't been opened or touched since we moved in two years ago. The sexy lil chaise longue that we thought would give the space a boutique-hotel vibe is a dumping ground for piles. The windows that dominate one wall are so unusually sized and shaped that we haven't been able to find curtains for them, and "temporarily" hung old sheets. Again, two years ago.

The room has great bones: 20'x25' with 15 ft ceilings, bay window alcove dominates one wall with a gorgeous view, hardwood floors, and good furniture.

We just need a solid kick-start.

  88. First of all, I had no idea that Calling a Note existed. As a new-ish homeowner, that is terrifying!

Now, on to the fun stuff :) We are actually just starting the process of a bathroom renovation. I would love to see your ideas for the (small) space.

Wish you lived closer to Colorado so I could HIRE you! But, if i win I'd love help in my kitchen....no master....no powder room. Ok, if i have to pick one! KITCHEN.

Look forward to reading for years to come.

  91. congrats on one year! i just love reading your blog. i desperately need help with my family room. i bought my first house in june and focused on the other rooms first, but we spend more time in the family room so it needs help!

  92. First off, I need help with every room in my house. Horrible decorator. Now shoes..shoes I know.
Secondly, bless you and your family. I admire your ability to look forward rather than dwell. Sometimes we forget how much worse things really could be. But, it sounds like you've got your chin up and angels over you! Hugs! xoxo

  94. Hi Autumn! I'm so delighted to have found your blog and your warmth and kindness.

We, too have experienced "economic adversity". Thank you for sharing so openly and honestly. It is a difficult and scary time. You are not alone.

I've cried to you in the past about my spare bedroom and wanting to turn it into a sanctuary room for reading, crafting, etc....

    Peace and Love,
    Mary Ann

  95. Autumn, your blog has always been an inspiration to me. I constantly show pictures of your homes to my husband and ask "can we do this???" He loves your pictures also. You have been dealt a nasty hand lately, but he courage and strength that you have shown has been inspirational. It is so sad that our economy is where it is today. I hope nothing but the best for you in the future. You have a talent and no matter where you are, you will shine!

I would love to have a makeover for my master! It is always the last room that I decorate when it should be one of the first! I really want to make it a cozy place for me and my hubby! Thanks for offering such a wonderful giveaway!!

  98. Oh, this would be my dream! I feel like I have good taste but have no idea how to bring it to life - I need help! I'm tempted to ask for help with my living room, but I'm starting from scratch with my kids' room so that's where I really need help! I'm about to move my son and daughter into a room together to share for the first time, and I would love some inspiration on how to create a cute space that would work for a girl and boy.

  99. Congrats on your anniversary. Second...this country's financial mess has affected us also, so I feel your pain. As my Mom used to say at swim practice..."just keep your head down and swim"....it's not easy and the water is cold, but eventually you get to the end. I hope you can get there soon.

  100. Happy Anniversary! Love your idea boards. I would be ever so greatful for some help with my living room. I've decorated it myself but it doesn't look polished. Your touch on it would put me over the Moon

  101. You are a huge inspiration to thousands of people. Love your blog and keep doing what you are doing. Thank you for keeping it real! So many people are feeling the pain of the economy, but that doesn't mean we have to give up our dreams.

  102. I would love help with my living room, but more than that I wanted to say hang in there. Three and half years ago my life was turned upside down in the matter of minutes when we lost our house and everything in it to a tornado. It is hard to look at your children and tell them how sorry you are that you were not better insured and can't replace everything. But I told them until they believed me that we are what makes our home, not our possessions or the colors on the walls. And a couple of months ago my 16 year old daughter told me, "Mom this is home now" Just takes time and patience. Good luck in all your endeavors.

  103. Just found your beautiful blog--thanks for the lovely images. Out of all the rooms in my house, it is probably my dining room that is that saddest: toy box, desk and office chair, plastic kid table, and finally a dining table. I could use some help!

  104. Hello,

I am one of your stalkers, this is the first time I have left a comment! I love your ideas, inspirations, and most of all your honesty. This crisis that we are going through has hit so many people in different ways...you are so strong!!

I just moved into a new home in June....we have a mirror on the wall, that. is. it. I bought it at a garage sale with inspirations to refinish it...I could REALLY use your help, but I think I would like it in our master bedroom. Even in our old house I NEVER did anything in there...we could use that getaway :)

  105. happy one year anniversary! i have loved reading your blog over the past few months, since i first stumbled upon it :)

the room in my house [well, apartment] that needs work is definitely my bedroom. i have two roommates that seem to have taken over the common space, so my room is the only space that is truly MINE so i want it to truly reflect who i am/my personal style. it needs to be my oasis. right now i'm thinking it needs a small chandelier hanging down - nothing fancy and it doesn't need to be functional as a light, just something to make me smile whenever i see it :)

  106. Hi, I am new to your blog and I love it!!! I am so sorry to hear of your circumstances. I personally am surrounded by friends, family and neighbors that have lost their homes. I won't get on my soap box but what the banks have done to homeowners is horrible. I have actually closed one of my accounts at a major bank and gone to a small credit union to do my banking. I can not support the major banks any longer. Okay now I am off my box. Enjoy your home through your blog, I have post on my someday room. I have no idea when it will happen but boy do I enjoy planning and dreaming. Keep up the good work, Kathysue

  107. I actually went to school for interior design..but didn't get very far because I met Mr. Right and we ended up moving from where I was going to school. Soo I have such a LOVE for design, but have gotten pretty discouraged and have felt like I can't do it any more because I haven't been able to see a room come together since we have moved 6 times in the past 3 years. If I had to pick one space in my home I think it would be our living room, which is the first room you see as you enter our home. Thanks for such a great blog!

  108. want to say congrats Autumn on the anniversary. As far as the economic issues, we have had a difficult go of it as well, but nothing as life changing as a cross country move. you guys are a talanted team, and I look forward to what you accomplish in the future.

i would love some help with our entry/living/dining as it all flows together and is a ugly mess.
