when i start working with a client, i really like to get
and idea of what they like, so i usually hand over a
stack of design magazines (from my way-too ample stash), and
tell them to flip through them and tear out
anything that "speaks to them".
it could be a chair.
a paint color.
a rug.
an entire room.
anything that they are
really drawn to.
i do the same thing--
every few months, i sit down
with my way-too ample stash
of design magazines and tear out anything that
"speaks to me"...
i honestly did not realize how drawn
i am to certain elements
until i started digging
through my files.
bead board and trim in a bathroom
were one of those frequently spotted elements...
sunny and classic.
i really love the look of painted bead board.
i'm such a sucker for bead board and oodles of trim.
and don't you love the built-ins behind the tub?
really fun and "beachy" feeling.
i thought the layout of this bath was really interesting.
look at all the windows!
great for natural light.
not so great for modesty.
i love the frosted glass door on the toilet closet.
love the horizontal bead board here...
love the dark apron in front of the tub with
the creamy walls.
i really liked the way the tile and
bead board tied in together...
well done.
small but stylish.
this makes me want to put a planter
in my shower.
this also makes me want a shower large enough
to put a planter in...
the saltillo tiles look great
with all the white. and i love that
the tops of the walls are a soft blue.
a classic look with the
cararra marble and touches of blue.
like the warm walls,
and the way the shower tile was installed.
love all these! especially all of the wonderful bead board and planking!
ReplyDeletei love bead board! when I decorate the home that I do not have in my head, I always think "and bead board!"
ReplyDeleteI too love bead board. it is so nice to have the architectural detail. Have you seen the bead board wallpaper by Graham and Brown? I am thinking of ordering some for my entry, to try it out! I will see how it works and let you know!
ReplyDeleteI love beadboard too. Vertical or horizontal? I want both. I save a million pictures and show them to my Husband who has no idea what "detail" I'm trying to show him.
ReplyDeleteP.S. that black shower in your post below, I've had in my "must have" file forever. Love it.
I love beadboard - I have it in my kitchen backsplash and just finished putting a wall of it in the bathroom (the bathroom reveal is on Thursday). I love your inspiration photos. They are especially great for helping decide about trim details. Having just done that, I know how much photos can help.
ReplyDeletei've been wanting to add it to my guest bathroom. it looks relatively easy, but i hate to take the floorboards off, only to have trouble getting them back on.
ReplyDeletei always think beadboard looks too "country" but some of these photos are so not country and totally FAB!
ReplyDeleteLove the one w/ the frosted door and that rug in the same photo is speaking to me!!
Can you come design my house???
I also save lots of pics from my abundant stash of mags. I think I have some of the same pages you do. I've always loved beadboard in the bath. I'm hoping to finish my upstairs bath project this Summer.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog and am loving it! Do you have any posts on decorating with tall ceilings or ideas for decorating on top of an entertainment center in a room with tall ceilings?? :) It's possible I might come across it while catching up on your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Amy
amy,
ReplyDeletei don't have anything on my blog yet about decorating with high ceilings, but that is a great idea for a post!
:)
I've been looking for a way to put two sinks in the kids' bath with very limited space. I love the idea of repurposing a table and adding vessel sinks. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteWоw that was odd. I just wгotе an іncredibly long comment but aftеr Ӏ clicked ѕubmit my соmment ԁidn't show up. Grrrr... well I'm not
ReplyDeleteωriting all that over again. Αnyway, just wantеd tο say wonԁerful blog!
