I just started using overstock as a more frequent resource for client work. There are some great deals and styles, right now I'm loving their counter stools! Janell
Autumn, overstock is wonderful isn't it?! I just ran across your blog and love it! I have done little else but read it today...you are amazing. I have a degree in Design but haven't 'worked' in the field since my son was born 7 years ago......in addition, I too live in SLC. Going on 6 years now; however, I just moved up here to the "city" after living in Utah County. I have a new house that has nothing..no moulding,no paint, no window treatments, etc so I was wondering if you would share any of your great store and or seamstress (as I can not sew) finds in the area? You are such an inspiration...makes me wish I had everything done NOW!!! Jody
jody, what a coincidence that you are a designer and you live in slc! and you know what? good for you for taking a break to raise your family...that's what i did, (with the exception of working with my husband), and i don't regret a second of it! as far as stores and seamstresses go...i am still finding places to shop in slc. i have only been here for 1 1/2 years, and my youngest son just started school in the fall, so i have not had a ton of time to scope out slc yet. however, i always love these stores: tj maxx homegoods, ANY d.i., homefabrics, and ikea. i use a ton of online sources like overstock.com, wisteria, pier1, fabric.com, west elm, target.com and allmodern.com. (can you tell i am a sucker for a BARGAIN?) i am actually on the hunt for a good seamstress, and when i find one, you can bet that i will post about her! (up until now, all of my clients have done their own sewing, or had a family member that helped out). thanks for stopping by, and for your sweet comment. have a great night! :) autumn
Autumn, thanks for the quick reply. I am a bargain girl as well! I just stopped in at Tai Pan Trading for their tent sale yesterday and found quite a few items. Can you believe I have yet to enter a DI? LOL! I have to put that on my must do this summer list. I will have to look at some of the online sites you recommend.... I would love to chat sometime....I have some unique angles in my new house! lol!! Jody
I forgot to mention how much I LUV the black doors! I have wanted to do that for years and never had the nerve, especially with white molding, but after seeing yours I can tell you I will be painting my white doors this summer!
i have found some cute stuff at tai pan. i really love their 25 and 50 yard rolls of grosgrain ribbon! and, you really need to get yourself into a d.i. they are like neiman marcus compared to the thrift stores in tennessee! and i hope you really do paint your doors black--one of the things that i love most about blogging is the opportunity to see other ideas, get inspired by them, and then make our lives a little bit prettier/happier/richer because of them! send me a pic of those doors if you even end up painting them! :)

ReplyDeleteI just love the leather wingback chair, it would look great beside a fireplace!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the brown chair! A wingback chair is on my to-buy list and this would be a great candidate!
