i live just north of salt lake city, and this area occasionally gets wind storms...well, we got hit with a MASSIVE one last thursday. we were without power all day long, and our internet and cable were out until yesterday.
there was a lot of damage from the winds in this area, including semi trucks getting blown over on the freeway, trees falling on houses and cars, lots and lots of fences blown way, and shingles and siding ripped off houses. school was closed on thursday and friday. lots of people have severe damage to their homes, so we feel really grateful that we are safe and (at the moment) have power. more winds are scheduled for this evening, and we lost power again a few hours ago, so i am hoping that tomorrow will bring blue skies and the damage from the new storm will be minimal.
hopefully i will be posting tomorrow. i finally got grady's room painted and put together the bookcases that i made into a window seat. i am excited to show you.
see you tomorrow?
until then, here are a few more pictures of damage that my husband captured on his cel phone:
-autumn
Autumn, I live in Kaysville and the damage here was brutal. Cleaning efforts are still in full force and my hubby spent hours today helping others in our area clear debris so that it doesn't go air born with tonight's wind! Our home was spared any damage or power outages, thankfully. I hope you and your family are doing well and are spared any damage that might be caused by tonight's wind. I hope to see a post from you tomorrow!

Wow that is crazy! Glad you are all ok.
ReplyDeletesita,
ReplyDeletei feel your pain! we spent hours today getting rid of debris and hauling it to the designated dump sites. i am so glad our house and neighborhood were ok, but the neighborhoods on either side of us had pretty sever damage to fences and siding. let's hope tonight isn't as rough as thursday!
We live in AZ, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw my aunt's house on your blog this morning! At least I'm pretty sure that top home is her Kaysville home. If it's not hers, it looks just like it! She not only lost that old walnut tree, but a 35 foot fir tree in the back. Scary! Hope the storms last night passed without damages for you all.
ReplyDeleteStay safe!
