before + after: e-design guest bedroom (the power of an hour)

i just received some "after" pictures from a repeat e-design client. (yay! my favorite kind of email to open!)
a few months ago, we worked on a pinterest board + phone call consultation for a guest  bedroom in her house.

here is the
before:

what needed to stay:
*the bed
*the dresser
*the ceiling fan

what we wanted to change:
the wall color
update bedding
add window treatments
add wall decor
update nightstand + lighting

after:
the wall color and simple window panels instantly update this space. new bedding and accent pillows
make the space feel welcoming and add pattern and depth.

from my client:
"The wall color is BM Coventry Gray.  Our guest room faces west and get a great deal of afternoon light. The room looks true gray in the morning and evening and a light blue/gray in the afternoons. I love the color; it is very peaceful which is what I was aiming for in the guest room.
I just wish I had your creativity and vision; that is such a wonderful gift you have been given."

color was added in fun yet controlled doses with the schumacher pillow and botanical + bird prints in simple, inexpensive frames. for a simple update, new pulls were added to the existing dresser.

the existing nightstand was painted a few shades darker than the wall and a more scale appropriate and timeless lamp was added.

thank you so much for sharing these picture with me ML!

just for fun, here are some ideas of how to mix color and pattern on a bed:
guest bedroom are a great place to do some "experimenting" with pattern and color. if you have a simple white duvet cover, you can throw any pillows on for an instant room update!

  3. Beautiful job, both of you. You're going to get a lot of requests for that gray wall color because it looks like a perfect neutral gray. I'd love to know, too, but understand that client sources aren't shared. Love seeing the "afters."

    1. i actually don't know exactly where my clients purchased these prints, but so many like them can be found at a few of my favorite sources for inexpensive art---art.com, all posters.com and etsy. you can also take the images from a calendar and frame them!
