diy rosette pillows

i love the way these pillows turned out.
they add such a fun burst of color and texture in this nursery,
and you will not believe how easy
(and cheap) these are to make yourself!
i have seen these little rosettes adorning everything from necklaces to
headbands, and i thought they would look adorable on a pillow.
the first thing i did was to take some scraps of fabric,
make cuts in them aprox. 1" apart,
then RIP the fabric into strips.
next, get a few glasses or jars in varying diameters, and
trace them onto some felt
(try to match your felt to your fabric. i
couldn't find a soft pink, so i used white.)
tie a knot at the end of your first strip
and glue it to the center of the felt.
while holding the knot down, slowly start
twisting and tucking the fabric, being sure to glue as you go.
add more strips by tucking them under the previous
strip, and hold as you twist and tuck...
i used fabric-tac, and was really pleased with how well it worked,
but i am sure any fabric adhesive would be fine.
once the rosette is to the desired size,
trim off the excess felt.
lay out the rosettes on
your pre-cut pillow front.
glue them down!
there you have it!
a fun, easy and cheap way to
customize a pillow.
i used a patterned background for the pillow,
and 3 different fabric for the roses,
but there are literally thousands of
different ways to  make these.
give it a try, and if you do,
send me some pictures so i can share!

  9. WOW -- I am so happy to see this tutorial, Autumn. I was just over at Regan's and she made some pretty pillows with rosette flowers and told her that I sure wish I knew how to make those -- Now I do. Thank you so much!!!! This is very exciting.

  11. Howdy, I do believe your website could be having browser compatibility problems.
Whenever I take a look at your website in Safari, it looks fine however, when opening
in IE, it's got some overlapping issues. I merely wanted to provide you with a quick heads up! Apart from that, great site!
