spring pastels

spring finally feels like it might be here to stay...
fresh greens, soft pinks and vibrant yellows are
slowly transforming the landscape.
i don't usually gravitate towards pastel colors, but
these rooms really caught my eye:
let's face it...anytime you have high ceilings, tall windows,
hardwood floors, built-in bookcases, and a classic
fireplace surround, it's pretty easy to make a room look
amazing. what i love here is the  confident mix of
several pastel shades, along with the doses of chocolate + white.
this room is happy.
i LOVE the trim on the valance, and the teal chairs are lovely.
things to notice here:
the aqua band at the bottom of the pink drapes.
the hot pink leopard chair.
the acrylic chair and lamp.
the subtle tone on tone wallpaper/stencil in the headboard wall.
this jonathan adler room has been all over, and for good reason.
it's cheerful, whimsical, modern and traditional at the same time.
LOVE:
the wallpapered panel.
the white chandelier.
the trellis ottoman.
the black bookcases.
this room is subtle and gorgeous.
everything is totally neutral except for the pillows.
this is a great "base"...you can literally transform
this room with just some throw pillows.
this is another room that has  quite a bit of color,
but reads as soft and soothing. purple and yellow
are complimentary colors, and so pairing them creates
a lot of visual interest, and because both colors are
muted, the effect becomes very sophisticated.
this color scheme for this room seems to have been
taken from the art above the bed...
a great way to start building a "color story" for a room...
orange + hot pink done right.
this room is bright and yet still soft.
i love that green sofa...and don't even get me started
on the drapery trim!
happy + sophisticated.
i WANT that yellow chair...no, i may NEED that yellow chair.

  1. I love that minty room with the art inspiration. AND the yellow chair. *crave* Also, pink walls are pretty much awesome; i'm still working up the nerve to do that in my house.

  2. The olive-turquoise-y room is striking to me. Come by and see my IKEA finds from the weekend. There are two colored glass vases that would work in that room!

  3. Oh Autumn! I'm almost tempted to switch my black & white home decor to SPRING colours. So fresh fresh fresh.

  4. The second room...the yellow David Hicks Vase wallpaper, I have had my eye on this pattern for years! I would love it in a powder bathroom or on a wall in a bedroom. Just fabulous...and as for pastels, these are all fairly saturated and look so wonderful I could enjoy some time in any of these rooms! Janell
