do you remember the idea board i did for the tween artists room?
well, a lot has happened in the last few months, and i have some
progress pictures to share with you!
yes, my client MADE the headboard! she did a fantastic job!
here are the things we wanted to accomplish:
more storage
purple in the room without a "purple" room
a place to read
a desk/art area
more room to spread out on the floor and hang out with friends
keep to a budget of under $2,000 for everything.
the owl lamps were in the plan from the very beginning.
as you can see, lots of storage for an active, artisitc, imaginative girl.
my client did a fantstic job of transforming my design plan into a reality, even when faced
with several hurdles including discontinued and out of stock items.
we all agree that the chalkboard wall is a fave.
my client originally wanted to frame a section of the wall with trim and paint the
interior with chalkboard paint, but i pitched the idea of painting the entire wall...
including the closet doors and casings. we both love the way it turned out.
there are still a few small elements/details to add...pillows, some trim on the curtains...

just for refernce, here are some before and after pictures of the room:

Beautiful job. That headboard can even be used later with a bigger bed if necessary. Love that.
ReplyDeleteLove it when a client gets the vision and does an excellent job executing, what a terrific room! The DIY headboard rocks!

That is AMAZING. Can you share how she made the headboard or where she found the shelves or chandelier? I love it all!
ReplyDeletedarla,
ReplyDeletethe shelves are from ikea and the light from overtstock. budget price without the budget look!

as far as how she made the headboard....ha! i am not sure, but i know it involved poser tools and a lot of sweat! if she shares her secrets, i will let you know.
ReplyDeleteA sophisticated teens room! love it!
ReplyDeleteThis room is faabuloous! That headboard is amazing...and I can not believe the client made it! Where can I find out the how-to on this?!!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out beautifully. I love the chalkboard wall, but the homeowner's headboard is the star here.

This room looks so good! I love the headboard. I am making a similar one in a different fabric for my guest bedroom.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Funny...I am working on a purple but not too purple room for my Olivia. Must be the age!
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome! The difference between the before and after images is really great. The room looks so good. Everything from the purple setting, to the chalkboard wall, to the headboard, to that cute chandelier.
ReplyDeleteLove the headboard! Do you think a purchased king size upholstered headboard would fit a full size bed turned sideways?
ReplyDeletemy client actually MADE this headboard, following some pictures that i gave her. but i believe that a king size headboard would work on a twin sized bed. :)
