before + after: the power of an hour--texas master bedroom

an update from an e-design client that opted for my phone consultation + pinterest board service:

before:
as you can see, my client already had a nice start to the room with a crisp white duvet for the bed, a great rug, and three schumacher lace pillows in a pretty aqua.

the homeowners are avid travelers and sent me a gorgeous picture of a carribbean beach they had recently visited as inspiration for their bedroom. they loved the soft colors and peaceful feeling that a tropical beach evoked. they are drawn to the look of british colonial interiors, but also
craved a little more color in the room.

what was staying:
the wall color, the bed and bedding, nightstands, chair, dresser, rug, dresser, and beach prints by bed.
here is what we discussed during our hour long phone call, as we looked over the pinterest board that i created for them:
*adding a dose of coral to the  bedroom with a beautiful, trimmed bolster on the bed
*reinforcing the subtle beach theme with a shell sunburst mirror over the bed
*adding crisp white drapery to soften the walls, and a bench at the foot of the bed.
*adding a large piece of art, a lamp, an ottoman and a table to the "lonely" chair in the corner
*adding a gallery wall around the dresser (still being worked on...)
*buying new lamps, and hanging the art on either side of the bed
*placing a pillow with both a dose of the coral and the aqua on the chair to tie the color scheme together.

after:

as you can see, the simple addition of a great pillow on the bed added SO much to the room! the mirror, hung art and new (very affordable!) gourd lamps add layers of interest and texture.

the "lonely" chair got some friends---a large piece of art, a lamp, table and ottoman now make that space feel cozy and inviting.

the simple window treatments add softness and contrast to the taupe walls/trim/ceiling that the room really needed.

a big thank you to my client for sending me these great update pictures! i am so pleased with how the room has taken shape!

interested in working together on a room in your house? i would love to work with you!

  8. How much does this cost the phone call and review? We are building a kitchen and master suite and my wife needs someone to talk to and I feel you may have similar taste.

  9. Autumn, I think your flair for adding quality items to decor is fabulous. This room is lovely...so much better than before. But I just have to ask, why were the owners not advised (or compelled) to use a comforter that fits the bed?

  10. Wow, the room looks so much cosier and inviting. I love the corner chair - great way to fill a space without cluttering it up, looks so relaxed. The mirror above the bed is great and really pulls the room together. The splash of orange completes the room perfectly adding the perfect amount of colour. Love it.
