design plan+ some progress

a client recently contacted me about a small study,
off the side of her living room.
she wanted this room to feel cozy, be a place to
relax and watch tv, get on the computer, but also reflect the
sophisticated vibe of the rest of her home.

here's the idea board i came up with:
before:
my client already had several beautiful pieces of art from
travels to europe, as well as some photos that she wanted to showcase. the rest of her home has a sophisticated vibe, with a mixture of traditional, french furniture,  some more modern pieces, as well as items with a more vintage feel.

these french doors were removed...
(as part of an addition on the back of the house)
and this secretary got a makeover.
after:
we painted the walls and crown molding a nice soothing grey,
and the ceiling a soft camel color, and added some
metallic accents and more pattern.
we moved the armoire to the back wall and
added mirrors (a la eddie ross) to capture and reflect some
of the light that was lost from removal of the french doors.

we still have a few finishing touches to place...
the ottoman needs to arrive, and a few more items will
be added to the walls.
but both my client and i are thrilled
with the results so far.
i loved working on this room. it was such a pleasure
to work together to make this room come to life.
here is what my client said after we  finalized
the paint color:
"The color feels so great with all the contrast and again,
I am just so thrilled!
I have worked with tons of designers over the years
and this has been a GREAT experience."

  3. You already know that I'm your biggest fan. I love the way you combined pattern here. I'm starting to realize that I prefer pattern over color when it comes to rooms where I'll be relaxing. I could definitely feel comfortable in your client's space.
